MANNING COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION INC
Safer Community
One of MCA's main objectives is to have a safe and enriched suburb in which to live, work and play. The MCA Committee concentrates their efforts in working with regulatory bodies in the advancement of infrastructure, community networking and housing planning.
The MCA executives attend the City of South Perth's quarterly Community Safety & Development Meetings chaired by Mayor Sue Doherty. This group focuses on infrastructure enhancements for community safety and involvement in the City of South Perth. It includes representatives from major services which provides important valuable networking opportunities.
Reporting criminal activity and anti-social behaviour is the responsibility of all residents in Manning to assist in meeting this objective. Select to view contacts on how to report to police and housing.
Meetings are held with the police, Department of Housing and politicians such as
John McGrath MP and Steve Irons MP to improve local conditions and the position of our suburb.
Manning Hub Development
The Manning Community Centre is a $17 million facility which is the first stage of the Manning Hub and is the largest project in which the City of South Perth has invested. The Centre was officially opened by Mayor Sue Doherty on Wednesday, 8 February 2017. The MCA was represented by three Committee members at the Opening.
The Centre includes an impressive range of community facilities including the Manning Library, Manning Community Hall, sporting clubrooms for the Manning Rippers Football Club and Perth Blitz Gridiron Club, the Manning Child Health Clinic, Early Years Centre and the Moorditj Keila Aboriginal Group.
The Centre has underground parking for 80 vehicles, tiered seating with shading abutting James Millar Oval, changerooms and toilets.
Manning Primary Bushland
The MCA plans that this community project includes a five-way partnership between Manning Primary School P&C and students, MCA members, the City of South Perth, the Bushland Group and conservation advice from Kings Park. In consultation with the Manning Primary School, the intention is by presenting education of caring for the environment, native conservation and students and parents becoming custodians of the bushland. This will ensure passing on the responsibility to year levels as students move through the School.
Manning Infrastructure
As a result of a walk through the suburb of Manning, a "wish list" was developed with the City of South Perth environmental officers to identify streetscapes, gardens and clean-up initiatives. The MCA Committee continues to progress our requests for enhancements on a regular basis. Current focus is pursuing the Manning Road clean up and median strip planting from the George Burnett Recreation Centre through to Ley Street.
